Summer seemed to have been put on pause earlier this week in Sussex after a good few days of heavy rain, flash floods and thunderstorms – Not ideal for the 6 weeks school summer holidays and in the past I’ve always felt sad when these days come (although Duvet days, cake baking and crafts did make Max quite happy!)
However, since I’ve become more and more into gardening as well as my photography, I am now enjoying these days – not only do my plants get a good watering, but they also have an energy boost when the sunshine follows after – I look out to my garden and everything looks lush & revived.
Amongst my plants I am also growing (for the first time ever!) Cherry tomatoes, “Heart Breaker” tomatoes (very cute indeed!!!) Mini cucumbers, red onions and potatoes. I’ve already harvested my spring onions (which I let over grow and as a result were rather on the punchy side! Oops!!) And lettuce. Not bad going for the first attempt!
Since moving into our beautiful little cottage on the outskirts of Horsham we have been doing a lot of gardening and finding out this year what plants we have / have not got… as we come to the end of summer I have been planning the August “turn over” and reading about preparing the ground & cutting back trees ready for the winter rest!
I’m really enjoying this gardening game… finding it very thereputic, so if like me, you do too – come back and check for regular updates!
